Wilton Police say they were dispatched to Stop & Shop at 5 River Road on the report of a disturbance between customers and an employee on Wednesday, July 3 around 5:45 p.m.
Officers say they used the description provided over 911 to locate and stop the suspect vehicle, a 2015 Mercedes C4, which was traveling South on Ridgefield Road.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s two occupants, Mohsin Patel, 22, and Ammar Kiswani, 21, both of the Bronx, were involved in the disturbance at Stop & Shop, police say.
Ammar was making multiple purchases when he aroused the suspicion of a store employee, according to police.
Ammar subsequently began to yell and curse at the employee before finishing his five total purchases, police say.
Mohsin allegedly saw the employee confronting Ammar and also began to yell and curse.
Mohsin and Ammar exited the store after making their purchases, and further investigation revealed that the credit card used for the transactions did not belong to either of them, police say.
Though the suspects did not have permission to use the card, police say Ammar received $200 cash back on each transaction and was in possession of $600 cash in $20 denominations.
Ammar admitted to using the card to make purchases despite not knowing who it belonged to, police say.
Mohsin was in possession of $400 cash in $20 denominations, police say.
Ammar and Mohsin were arrested and charged with the following:
- Fourth-degree larceny
- Second-degree breach of peace
- Fraudulent use of credit card (Over $500)
- Third-degree identity theft
Ammar and Mohsin were processed and fingerprinted. They were released on $2,500 cash bond and are scheduled to appear at Norwalk Superior Court on Friday, July 12.
